Key Words

On this Blog there may be a lot of words that are unfamilar to you so I'll put up this little Glossary of words with their meanings so if you get confussed by them you can check them on here:

Dowry: A gift given to the Husband by the Father when he marries the daughter.

Gynaiken: The room in the house ment for the women when male guests were present.

Agora: The city centre of Athenes.

Andron: The men only room in which they had their all night parties.

Polis: The city states.

Symposism: The mens all night parties.

Okiss: The name for the Greek House hold.

Deem: Similar to suburbs like mini city states.

Politai: Mens polictical rights.

Kiros: Male owner of the woman at first her father then later her husband.

Attica: The area around the outside of the city of Athens where farms are.

Astai: Femal civil rights.

Thesmophoria: Women only festival.

These words are useful to know and I hope that you've learnt something by reading this list of words. These are some of the words that I learnt in Athens.
